The Pasadena Bar Association is having its Annual Speech Scholarship Contest. The first place winner will be awarded a $5,000 scholarship and the second place winner will be awarded a $2,000 scholarship. The Speech Scholarship Contest provides high school students with an invaluable opportunity to speak before attorneys and Judges. The conference if for sophomores and/or juniors female students from underrepresented communities. During this stay-over conference the 100 Black College Women board members will conduct informative workshops and bonding activities, for both UC Irvine students, and the high school ladies. These workshops and activities aim to connect the high school ladies and UC Irvine ladies to encourage their interest in higher education and share vital information concerning African American women for a fun, yet educational weekend experience.
